Gunfire on SD Air Force base

The civilian husband of an Ellsworth Air Force Base airman is in custody after allegedly firing a pistol on the southwest South Dakota base.

The 28-year-old man was arrested Monday on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. He was taken into custody without incident in a restaurant parking lot in Box Elder off the base about an hour-and-a-half after the incident.

Base officials say no one was hurt in the shooting that prompted an increase in security measures until the man's arrest. They did not immediately release more details.
