Local troops happy to be home for the holidays

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Many members of the military are already home including some SIouxland troops.

A group that supports local soldiers held a holiday party in their honor.

Troops and their families gathered at the Sioux City Public Museum movies, pizza, and cookie decoration, and tours of the museum.

Kids even got in line to see Santa.

Those who've spent past holiday's overseas, say they're happy to be home this Christmas.

"I guess the main difference is just actually being there. Being able to see her in the morning. You know with kype and being overseas, connection cuts out. You kind of catching the robot voice every once in a while," said SGT Adam Spates, Army National Guard.

Support Siouxland Soldiers got a gift themselves, a $10,000 donation from the Freemasons of Iowa.
