Hobart's humble good bye to Sioux City

It was a standing room only crowd at Sioux City Hall as Mayor Mike Hobart bid an official farewell.

Hobart said he's proud of the city's progress in his four years at the helm, and is confident that trend will continue in the coming years.

Hobart said being mayor was the opportunity of a lifetime, and he was happy to accomplish his goals: keeping taxes in check, and enhancing the city's quality of life.

He took a humble, grateful approach during his farewell address.

"I want to emphasize that I do not take credit for these successes. They were attained by team effort: by city employees and citizens in our community," said Mayor Mike Hobart.

Hobart said the city's response to the flood, the use of stimulus money and decreasing crime rates were among the highlights of his term in office.

During the ceremony, Hobart gave out a key to the city and received one in return.

City manager Paul Eckert says he'll need the real keys to the office back soon.
