A big purchase of land could mean a big business is on its way to North Sioux City, South Dakota. Hepar BioScience recently bought about a third of the land at the Flynn Business Park northwest of town. That's fifty acres in all.
Details are few on what the research and development company will do with the land. But, North Sioux City officials say they're expecting some new jobs and more property tax revenue. They say Hepar looks to be a perfect fit to the park.
"It is a biosciences company and that is a type of industry we have been working very hard to recruit. We have several high tech bioscience related industries in North Sioux City, so we think they will be a very good fit," said North Sioux City Economic Development Director Kory Menken.
The Flynn Business Park is about 160 total acres. It's currently home to five other businesses.
City officials say we'll know more about the latest purchase when Hepar is ready to make an announcement.
