NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
Norfolk, Nebraska is losing out on one of its long-time department stores. Duckwall-ALCO
Stores announced on Friday that they will be closing their Norfolk store sometime
in mid-March. Vice President for Store Operations Dan Roth said in a press
release that the economy had an impact on store sales, forcing them to make the
"difficult decision to close." The company reported last week that sales across
its 217 stores nationwide were down 0.3% over the past year. Roth says employees
of the Norfolk store would be considered for positions at other ALCO stores.
There is a nearby ALCO in West Point.
