Norfolk Public Schools has been seeking applications for a principal at Norfolk Senior high since last summer, when then-principal Steve Morton resigned to take on a position at Northeast Community College. Since then the post has been filled on an interim basis. The school board announced this week that they will close the application window next week. Interviews are expected to take place February 10th, with a candidate ready for board consideration by the end of next month. Also at this week's meeting, the NPS board heard from administrators that the senior high will now require a third year of science for each student. This is an increase from the current two year requirement and reflects recent credit requirements at the state level. Officials say the new requirement will better prepare students for life after high school.
