Newman Grove man sentenced for attempted kidnap of boy

A Newman Grove, Nebraska man has been sentenced to 10-to-15 years in prison for trying to kidnap a 14-year-old boy in Madison County. 47-year-old Jose Llerenas-Alvarado pleaded no contest to the charge after prosecutors lowered it.

Authorities say Llerenas-Alvarado traveled with the teen from Newman Grove into Boone County on a gravel road last June. The boy broke one of his arms while escaping.

Llerenas-Alvarado is serving a year-long sentence for his conviction in Boone County for third-degree sexual assault stemming from the same set of circumstances in the Madison County case.

He must also register as a sex offender for 25 years.
