ELK POINT, S.D. (KTIV) -

More details are released after the arrest of an Elk Point, South Dakota woman charged with abusing a child.

Lynn Klunder is charged with one count of simple assault and one count of contributing to the abuse or neglect of a child.

Klunder turned herself in on Friday, following a grand jury indictment.

While authorities are not releasing the specifics behind the incident Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges says Klunder is an in-home daycare provider.

He says the incident happened at her home on Green Court Drive in Elk Point while she was taking care of the two-year-old child.

Her daycare operation remains open. She's expected to be in court next month.
