Hartley, IA ethanol plan receives safety and performance awards

HARTLEY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The Valero Renewables ethanol plant in Hartley, Iowa is receiving a pair of awards for safety and outstanding performance.

Canadian Pacific Railway has presented a "Chemical Shipper Safety Award" to the Hartley plant, recognizing its efforts in transportation safety.

The plant is also receiving the "Valero Chairman's Plant Excellence Award."

The company gives that award each year to one of its ten ethanol plants for outstanding performance.

Valero recognized the plant for reducing its injury rate in 2011, having no significant process safety or rail incidents and achieving excellent environmental performance.
