SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
It's been around since 1992. In recent weeks, you may have noticed the price of your Powerball ticket has gone up.
Rates increased from $1 to $2 on January 15th.
Lottery officials say initially ticket sales dipped nearly 6 percent, but now they are back on the rise.
One lottery official says that's because folks are seeing the potential for bigger jackpots
"And you know that's exciting because we talked about the jackpots being bigger and we think they will grow faster I think that's already coming true," said Mary Neubauer, Iowa Lottery Authority.
Officials want to remind folks there are dollar games out there like Mega Millions and Hot Lotto.
For those looking for the big win, tonight's estimated jackpot is $170 million.
