NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -

Folks in Norfolk, Nebraska are breathing a sigh of relief Saturday.

There's snow on the ground but not nearly as much as was predicted.

However, the same cannot be said for other parts of Nebraska as the storm swept through it left several towns looking like a Winter Wonderland.

Friday's snow storm was either a minor inconvenience or a major problem depending on where you live.

Here in Norfolk just shy of two inches came down.

By mid-afternoon many of the roads around town had already been cleared.

Stanton meanwhile reported about one inch and just over two inches fell in Randolph.

But as you head further south you can see where this storm started to have its effect.

Just 15 miles south of Norfolk in Madison about six inches of snow fell.

Road crews were just starting to clear US Highway 275 and State Highway 32 in town early Saturday.

City officials in Madison declared a snow emergency so crews could work on clearing the downtown streets which produced snow drifts in some places as high as eight feet.

Even Madison could be considered lucky when you look south of Siouxland.

Towns like Columbus, Nebraska as well as Lincoln and Omaha reported anywhere from 8 to 12 inches so a lot of folks in Northeast Nebraska are considering themselves lucky because it could have been much, much worse.
