Snow storm hit or miss in Siouxland

LITTLE SIOUX, Iowa (KTIV) -

Tracking a snow storm can be tough, but the results from Saturday's storm are rather interesting.

Folks living in several towns were either digging themselves out while others are not.

The sound of snow blowers is all around as folks dig themselves out of the first snow storm of 2012.

"I'm just trying to take care of the snow in my yard and helping my neighbors over here get their yard and driveway all cleaned," said Tony Bellis of Onawa, IA.

Up until Saturday, Bellis has enjoyed the mild winter.

"This has been a good winter so far. Just here last night is where we got this first big snow that came in," said Bellis.

But Bellis only has had a few inches to shovel.

"Go even farther south to Little Sioux in Harrison County and the ruler almost disappears. The snow is about 9 inches deep," said Victoria.

It was still snowing when Dennis Jerrett headed outside with his snow blower.

"Trying to clear the roadway a little bit at the end of my driveway," said Dennis Jerrett of Little Sioux, IA.

But the dense snow made it tough.

"Trying to blow it but it's pushing more than is blowing the snow. It's too wet," said Jerrett.

So, while some missed out entirely, others couldn't avoid the snow.

"We're in Iowa where it happens this way all the time," said Bellis.

"Sometimes we get a bunch, sometimes we don't. It depends on the weather I guess. Mother Nature she'll let it fall where she wants it," said Jerrett.
