SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The Perry Creek Library appears to be off the chopping block this year.
You might remember that the last city council voted to ax it, only to bring the North Side branch back for one more year.
But, now council members seem more on board with the idea of keeping it. They heard from several citizens today, who urged them not to close. The speakers talked about accessibility and how the branch serves different age groups.
Director Betsy Thompson says she's encouraged all three Sioux City library branches will remain in place.
"Perry Creek Branch Library does serve a purpose. It serves a certain part of our population and they would like to keep it served," said Betsy Thompson, library executive director.
The branch saw 28,000 guests walk through its doors last year, which was helped by the summer closure of the main branch which underwent a major facelift.
