Siouxland Center for Active Generations celebrates ownership

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

The Siouxland Center for Active Generations now owns the building it's in.

The center moved to its current location, on Cook Street, in May of 2008, but they still owed more than $1-million on the property. Directors used fundraising to help offset some of the cost, but still were in debt until last December. That's when the city of Sioux City accepted a 250-thousand dollar payout to buy the building at a lower cost.

Now... the center can focus their resources, and their members. Executive Director Jeff Loffswold is thrilled about the possibilities. "We'll probably be able to do a few things new that we haven't been able to do. We'll be able to keep our building. It's a great building. It's been really a godsend to be able to be in this building," said Jeff Loffswold, executive director for the Siouxland Center for Active Generations.

In the future, Loffswold says he'd like to see more health and fitness options, and upgraded technology, at the center.
