Officials: Male body discovered near culvert in Northwest, Iowa

NEAR ODEBOLT, Iowa (KTIV) -

A dead body discovered by a county worker may help solve a missing person's case in Sac County.

The Ida County Sheriff's Department says around 8:00 a.m. Thursday, they received a call that a body was spotted in a ditch on 260th Street near Arthur, Iowa.

Officials couldn't comment specifically, but they aren't ruling out the possibility the body may be that of missing 44-year-old Odebolt man, Charles Bird. He was reported missing in January.

The Department of Criminal Investigations is assisting in the investigation. The body has been transported to Ankeny for further analysis.
