WASHINGTON (KTIV) -
2011 was a record year for U.S. farm exports. Data released Friday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows exports reached $136.3 billion last year. That's an increase of $20.5 billion dollars over the previous record set in 2010.
Grains were the biggest contributor to the record, reaching an all-time high of $37.7 billion, a $9.2 billion dollar increase over 2010. Beef, pork and dairy exports also set records in 2011.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says the figures indicate how demand for the American brand of agriculture continues to soar worldwide.
