It's something many of us may take for granted, but not everyone is able to sit down at a dinner table and have a hot meal.
The Food Bank of Siouxland hosted its eighth annual Empty Bowls dinner and auction to raise money to help those using its services for the coming year.
Officials say the Food Bank has been running low on resources, and this event will help them replenish their inventory.
Executive director Linda Scheid was thrilled with the turnout, and says the money will go far.
"All of that support helps us restock our shelves at the Food Bank of Siouxland," said Scheid. "We're very low. We've been sending out more food than we've been able to bring in. So, having the resources to go out and resource more products is going to make a tremendous difference for us."
450 guests dined on soup—more than 900 were served in all—then took home special bowls donated by students and local artists, to remember the meaning of this evening throughout the year.
KTIV's Christy Batien emceed the event.
