Orange City woman dies in South Dakota ski accident

LEAD, S.D. (AP) -

A northwest Iowa woman has died in a skiing accident in western South Dakota.

Authorities say 24-year-old Tina Heilman of Orange City hit a ski lift tower at Terry Peak resort Saturday as she was skiing down a beginner's slope at the resort.

An official with the resort says Heilman was a novice skier and wasn't wearing a helmet.

A family friend says Heilman worked as a nurse in Sioux Falls. She was a graduate of Dordt College in Sioux Center.
