SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
There's been another northwest Iowa bank robbery, the fourth in just six weeks. It happened Monday afternoon in Sioux City. No one was hurt, but the thief did get away with cash.
Namon Jones was throwing down some salt in front of Paul Davis Restoration, when he spotted a suspicious person walking his way.
"Kind of looked up and saw a guy walking down the street. He kind of stood out, bigger coat, kind of had his face covered," said Jones.
Jones didn't think much of it, until he heard the bank across the street was robbed.
"As soon as I heard, I immediately thought back to that guy, that one guy I saw," said Jones.
That guy could have been this guy, who police say at around one Monday afternoon robbed the First National Bank at 1703 Pierce St.
He didn't show a weapon, instead he handed the teller a note asking for money, which he got.
"He left with an undisclosed amount of cash. At this time they're determining how much money was exactly taken," said Sioux City Police Officer Jeremy McClure.
The man fled south on foot. Police tried to track his shoe prints, but so far, they haven't found him. Now, they're asking for your help.
"Suspect was described as a black male in his early to mid-40s, about five foot ten to six feet tall, slender to medium build, wearing a greenish coat with a black hoodie underneath and a black hat," said McClure.
That sounds almost exactly like the person Jones saw. He hopes they catch him.
"Oh I definitely hope they catch him. He deserves to get caught," said Jones.
If you spot the man, contact Sioux City's Crime Stoppers at 712-258-TIPS.
