NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
Police in Norfolk, Nebraska are continuing to search for the person responsible for a shooting Tuesday afternoon that sent one person to the hospital with a very serious injury. That shooting happened just after noon in central Norfolk which also caused local schools to go into lock down.
Officials say the person responsible is still at-large and the investigation is on-going. So far, no description of the suspect, direction of travel, or mode of transportation has been released.
What officials will say is an unidentified female was shot in the head at this residence at 706 South 3rd Street. Norfolk Police Chief Bill Mizner says the victim was flown from Norfolk to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Her condition isn't known. Following the incident, the Norfolk Junior High School, went on a voluntary lock down temporarily. That lock down was lifted a short time later. A number of other schools, daycare centers and area businesses also locked their facilities.
