Al's Award Winning Bold Chili - prepared by Al Joens, KTIV Morning Anchor
Ingredients:
3 lbs. hamburger
1/2 half medium onion, chopped
3 tbsp. chili powder
3 8-oz. cans tomato sauce
3 15-oz cans diced tomatoes, drained
2 slices pepper jack cheese
1 15-oz can chili beans
1 15-oz can kidney beans, drained
1/3 green bell pepper, diced
1/3 red bell pepper, diced
1/3 yellow bell pepper, diced
3 jalapeno peppers, sliced & diced
Brown hamburger and chopped onion together in big pan. Drain off grease. Stir in chili powder and tomato sauce. Add all peppers and simmer 5 minutes over medium heat then dump it in a 7-quart crock pot. Using a hand blender or mixer, blend the diced tomatoes until they are pulpy. Add to crock pot and let it go for two hours at low, medium or high heat. The setting really doesn't matter. After two hours, add the two slices of pepper jack cheese. Let them melt, then stir them in. Add the chili beans and kidney beans and continue to heat for 30 more minutes in the crock pot. Eat.
