AMES, Iowa (KTIV) -

A Siouxland beef producer is home from a trade trip to explore potential markets for Iowa beef in Central America. Kent Pruismann of Rock Valley is a director on the Iowa Catttlemen's Beef Board. He's pictured on the right in this photo taken in Panama City with an importer who sells and distributes several brands of U.S. beef. Also pictured is Dan Cook, past chairman of the Iowa Beef Industry Council.

The Meat Trade Mission earlier this month also included members of the Iowa Pork Producers Association. The team met with meat processors, government agencies and importers in Panama City and Guatemala City. The trip was funded in part by the beef checkoff. It was coordinated by the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the U.S. Meat Export Federation.
