NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV) -
A number of Northeast Nebraska residents were recognized over the weekend for their outstanding philanthropic contributions to the area. The Philanthropy Council of Northeast Nebraska presented it's first ever Celebrate Giving event Saturday evening.
To start the night, participants of the recent Youth Philanthropy contest had their ideas on display during the social hour. That was followed by dinner and the awards ceremony. Courtney Klein-Faust of the Philanthropy Council says honorees include: Ron Stauffer-Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year, Mark Claussen-Volunteer of the Year, Nucor Steel-Business Philanthropist of the Year, Steve Nelson – Youth Philanthropist of the Year, J. Paul and Eleanor McIntosh – Philanthropists of the Year and Jerry and Karla Huse – Lifetime Philanthropists.
Instead of giving a typical trophy to the honorees Saturday night, the Philanthropy Council awarded hand-crafted pieces of artwork created by local artist Leroy Von Glan. Organizers say this is just the first of many years of recognizing those who give of time, talent and treasure to Northeast Nebraska.
