SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
For the past few weeks Woodbury County supervisors have worked hard to put together their annual budget and try to cut your taxes.
Now, they need your help. Cuts will come to some county departments to keep taxes low. But, supervisors admit that despite their efforts, homeowners may watch property taxes go up.
That follows state cuts in mental health funding for counties. Supervisors will hold a public meeting, next month, to see what cuts the public wants made. They'll wait to vote on the budget until after that meeting and after state lawmakers decide on funding cuts in Des Moines.
"What the intent is to wait till the legislature hopefully gets more legislation done so we can make a better decision on where we want to go," said Dennis Butler, Woodbury County Tax Analyst.
The public meeting is set for Tuesday, March 13th, at 10:30 in the morning at the Woodbury County Courthouse.
