Representatives from Apple made a stop in Norfolk to deliver a Distinguished Program Award to teaching assistant Lisa Pospisil and a group of students. The award recognized the school districts' annual "pod fair" which uses various activities to teach students how to utilize iPods and iPads in their classrooms and beyond. Mark Billington with Apple told the NPS school board this week that he was very impressed with the program and it's amazing achievements. The school district received a plaque from Apple and a gift certificate for the purchase of new apps. Students chosen to participate in the program bring an iPad home every night. Currently, the students are learning how to use the iPads and will soon load their textbooks on them. Eventually they will learn to do much more, including on-line class work and video editing.
