UPDATE: Lawmakers plan to tour BPI facility Thursday
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE (KTIV) -
Top officials from at least five states are planning to tour the Beef Products Incorporated plant in South Sioux City, Nebraska as a show of support for the company.
A spokesman for BPI says Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, Texas Governor Rick Perry, and South Dakota Lt. Governor Matt Michels will tour the plant Thursday and then hold a news conference.
Dakota Dunes-based BPI announced Monday it was suspending operations at its other three plants amid concerns about the lean beef filler it produces.
