Norfolk visitor says national recession is over

A federal business development specialist who made a stop in Norfolk, Nebraska this week says he believes the nation's recession is over.  Michael Foutch was a guest of the Norfolk Area Chamber's Small Business Council on Tuesday.  Michael Foutch works for the Federal Small Business Association.  During his address, he told small business leaders in Norfolk that he based his assertion on an increased number of SBA loans on a national level to help small businesses get started and renovate.  Foutch used Norfolk as an example and pointed out that 17 local businesses have used federal loans to start or expand their business over the past 18 months.  He says that in-turn has created or saved about 160 jobs locally.  That gives Norfolk some pretty high marks.  Foutch says that puts Norfolk on par, per capita, with Lincoln and Omaha.
