"Taste of Siouxland" tours Trattoria Fresco restaurant


"South Sioux City has a lot of great restaurants but we are going to stop at Trattoria Fresco," said Riley O'Connor.

"We are going to introduce Isael Padilla, he's the owner of Trattoria Fresco. He's been doing this for years. Tell me how you got into this whole business?" said O'Connor.

"I've been working in the restaurant business since I was nine because my Dad used to Chicago at a restaurant and I had a big party and they were understaffed. So my Dad went up to the owner and said there is no way we serve 500 people, with just two servers and a busboy, can I bring my son in. The owner is like, how old is your son? He goes he's nine. He goes he's better than nothing bring him in, said Israel Padilla, Trattoria Fresco Owner.

"So you started working at nine?" said O'Connor.

"Yes," said Padilla.

"Nine-years-old, obviously the restaurant business is in his blood. So you opened the doors here in 2010 and from what I understand you are going to be opening another location? Where is that?" said O'Connor.

"Sioux City. On 6th street in six months roughly," said Padilla.

"What's the busiest night you guys have here?" said O'Connor.

"Friday and Saturday," said Padilla.

"And do the specials change?" said O'Connor.

"Every day," said Padilla.

"And then out of all of the dishes you prepare, what's your favorite?" said O'Connor.

"Spagetti and Clams," said Padilla.

"Do you have any of that?" said O'Connor.

"We can toss something up," said Padilla.

"We can toss it up," said O'Connor.

"And then you start doing the little turn. So this is when I do this? Alright. Am I doing good? It's alright if I spill it all? So here I am guys doing a little spaghetti and clams together. Oh. It's all in the wrist," said O'Connor.

"The natural juices in the clams and just give it a nice little twist," said Padilla.

"Clams in here. Lots of pasta, lots of garlic and it looks really good. We are going to try this out. You can really taste the garlic and I taste white wine," said O'Connor.

"White wine, chives, garlic. You've got butter together and it kind of ties up at the end," said Padilla.
