Rep. King calls on Ag Secretary to set LFTB record straight

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Congressman Steve King is calling on Tom Vilsack to help set the record straight about lean finely textured beef. The Iowa Republican is one of thirty lawmakers who sent a letter to the agriculture secretary expressing concerns about what they call a campaign of misinformation about the product produced by Dakota Dunes-based Beef Products, Incorporated.

The letter reads, in part: "Misleading propaganda has plagued the marketplace and is adversely affecting the beef industry." "I hope that Secretary Vilsack will take steps to correct this media driven smear campaign. This issue impacts every American who buys beef; and they deserve an answer from the Secretary."
