SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Ziegler Caterpillar is expanding its facility in Sioux City's Bridgeport Industrial Park. It's a $6 million project that will add 19,000 square feet of shop space and 5,000 feet of warehouse, display and parking space. Ziegler sells and services machinery at the facility.
The company says the expansion will add ten to 20 new jobs to the current workforce of 40.
Company officials say the expansion will help serve their markets on a larger scale and improve Ziegler's offering of new and used equipment, service, parts, rental tools, and technology support for customers in western Iowa.
Mayor Bob Scott stated, "Ziegler's expansion in Sioux City is a reflection of economic growth throughout the region. The project will bring additional jobs and significant investment to Sioux City."
The City is assisting Ziegler CAT by vacating two acres of unused City right-of-way separating Ziegler's two parcels, which will create a single development property large enough to accommodate Ziegler's expansion. The City will construct a new storm water conveyance ditch that will connect to the existing storm water system, drain the Ziegler property, and other area development properties. Ziegler has committed to a minimum assessment of $2.5 million.
