Californians gets 180 days in Nebraska jail

Posted:
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -

A 30-year-old California woman suspected of acting as a decoy to protect a big shipment of marijuana has been given 180 days in jail.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports Natalie Nguyen had pleaded no contest to attempted possession of more than a pound of marijuana.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Nguyen and 37-year-old Tri Minh Dao, both of Westminster, Calif., were following another vehicle too closely and were pulled over in March 2011 along Interstate 80 near the Lincoln Airport exit. The trooper suspected they were trying to decoy him away from the other car, so he alerted other troopers.

The other car was pulled over, and more than 75 pounds of marijuana was found.

Dao and two Californians in the other car were given one-year sentences.
