Today's the one year anniversary of the capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden. It's become a campaign issue, with former President Bill Clinton defending the decision in a web video.
Today, there's plenty of fallout about whether President Obama made the right call.
We've since learned it was a risky decision that even some of the President's closest advisers didn't recommend.
One year later, NBC's Rock Center an inside look at the top-secret "situation room" - the night President Obama ordered Navy SEALs to take out Osama Bin laden. "It wasn't so much a high five moment, as a kind of looking around and just dealing together as almost one body. That "Okay, it's over," recalled Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
And it worked. A tough call - analysts say. "He had to know and should have known that had this failed with the loss of our people that he would have been looking probably at a one term presidency at best," said Former Secretary of Defense, William Cohen.
At the time, Mitt Romney called the decision "ill-timed and ill-considered." now he says he wouldn't have blinked.
Without naming him, President Obama's defending his decision, and challenging Romney to explain: "If there are others who have said one thing and now suggest they'd do something else, then I'd go ahead and let them explain it," said The President
And his administration says, even today, "These targeted strikes against al Qaeda terrorists are indeed ethical and just," said Deputy National Security Advisor for Counterterrorism & Homeland Security.
