Morningside's regular season was somewhat disappointing. After being a nearly unanimous pick to win the conference, the Mustangs needed two wins on the final day of the regular season just to get to the league tourney.
Morningside outscored their four opponents 28-7 in winning the tourney this weekend and finally put all their talent together.
"You know the potential is always there," said Morningside head coach Jessica Jones-Sitzmann. "Again, it's how hard they worked in the off season and a culmination of everything they've been through. From fall ball to winter conditioning, to the spring games and everything else. It's a new chapter with the conference tournament and they went out and got it done."
We made sure as a team that we told ourselves, that we can do this," said Morningside senior Kati Steffen. "We just need to keep pushing through and things will happen as long as we're working hard."
The NAIA national tournament runs May 17th through the 19th in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
