SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A Sioux City man who suffered severe injuries in the crash of an all terrain vehicle was upgraded to fair condition Monday.

On Sunday afternoon, officers say 21-year old Aarick Hansen was driving the ATV at a high rate of speed on West 31st Street.

They say he was going too fast to make the turn on Blair Street, went off the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Police say Hansen wasn't wearing a helmet and alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Authorities are reminding people it's illegal to operate ATV's on city streets.
