The three top Republicans vying for Nebraska's U.S. Senate seat are scrambling through a final full day of campaigning, as election officials predict above-average turnout for the nationally watched contest. Candidates spent have spent the last week canvassing the state and working the phones in a final push for votes in Tuesday's GOP primary. The race with Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning, state Sen. Deb Fischer and Treasurer Don Stenberg has become one of the nation's most high-profile contests as Republicans seek to gain control of the Democratic-led U.S. Senate. Election commissioners in several counties predict the race will help drive a slightly higher turnout than in previous years. Douglas and Lancaster county officials say they've seen increases in the number of mail-in ballots requested, compared to previous years.
