SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE (KTIV) -
It's voting day in Nebraska. Ballots will be cast Tuesday to narrow down the number of candidates in the running for the November general election. The primary vote that's garnered the most attention is likely the race to replace U.S. Senator Ben Nelson. Six Republicans are running for their party's nomination... including state Attorney General Jon Bruning, state senator Deb Fischer, and State Treasurer Don Stenberg. The winner will likely face Bob Kerrey. But, the former Nebraska senator and governor faces four opponents for the Democratic Party's nomination. Among them, a man who dropped out to support Kerrey, Chuck Hassebrook.
Locally, the race is even more crowded for South Sioux City city council. Nine men and women are running for four seats on the seven member council. Eight of the nine candidates will advance to the general election. Polls are open from eight until eight today.
We'll have results from across northeast Nebraska, Tuesday night on "News Four at Ten", and at www.ktiv.com.
