NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -
After just a couple
higher traffic volume periods during the day, more constituents are beginning
to file into the polling locations in the area. US92's Brian Masters spoke
with the Madison County Clerk Monday who did not give a turnout prediction
for the primary. She along with the Nebraska Secretary of State say that
because the past four out of five primaries have had a turnout lower than 25
percent, it's hard to give a firm turnout prediction. They've told
us that they think turnout will be low, but hope that residents will do their
civic duty and go to the polls.
Among the races on the Norfolk
ballot is one that will actually be decided today. There are three Republican Candidates for the District 2 seat on the Madison
County Commissioners which covers most of the city. The candidates
include incumbent Marty Griffith and challengers Rod Hughes and Christian
Ohl. There are no democratic candidates, so tonight's winner will
be the only candidate listed on the November ballot. There is also a contested race for Norfolk City Council in ward 4.
The
candidates include incumbent Thad Murren and challengers Libby McKay and
Michelle Sanchez. The top two will move on to November. And a large field of candidates are interested in filling three open
spots on the Norfolk Public School Board of Education. The three
incumbents include Joel Carlson, Clark Froelich and Alfredo Ramirez. The
four challengers are Arnie Robinson, Sandy Wolfe, Bob Waite and Troy
Brooks. Out of the
seven candidates, six of them will move on to the November general
election. Folks can follow these and other races online on our website by clicking here.
