Tracey Richter looks on during her sentencing hearing. She's now serving life in prison, but has appealed.
EARLY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The murder conviction of Tracey Richter will be the focus of a two-hour special set to air tonight on "Dateline NBC."
Richter is the former Early, Iowa woman found guilty last November in the 2001 fatal shooting of her neighbor Dustin Wehde. Richter claimed the shooting was in self-defense when Wehde and another man invaded her home.
She even invited a KTIV reporter into her house and showed News 4 where she claimed it all happened. But prosecutors say Tracey Richter lured Wehde to her home and then killed him as part of a sensational plot to frame her ex-husband.
Richter is serving a life prison term, but has appealed her conviction.
You can see the two-hour "Dateline NBC" special tonight starting at 8:00 p.m. here on KTIV.
