Boetger and Drew move out of primary to face off in November

The ballot is set for the Woodbury County Sheriff's election in November. Doug Boetger won the Democratic nomination, beating Marty Pottebaum by 55 votes in Tuesday's primary election. He will face Dave Drew who beat James Bauerly and Greg Logan for the Republican nomination. Both Drew and Boetger are currently Woodbury County Sheriff's Deputies.

Holub, Salem & Ashley top GOP primaries for Woodbury Co. board

In the primary races for Woodbury County Supervisors, Linda Holub beat former Sioux City Mayor Mike Hobart by a wide margin. She will face incumbent Democrat Jackie Smith in November. Also advancing to the supervisors' general election was Dick Salem, who beat Greg Trucke and Eldon Eliason for the Republican nomination in District 3. He will face Democratic incumbent Mark Monson in the November election. And Brian Ashley beat Judy Darwin for the GOP nomination in District 5.  However, he dropped out of the race.  That means the Republican party will have to chose a candidate to challenge long-time Democratic incumbent Larry Clausen in the general election.  Judy Darwin does not automatically move forward.

"Anomalies" discovered at Gavins Point Dam

A survey of Gavins Point Dam has shown "anomalies" beneath the spillway that experts examined last month. The Army Corps of Engineers says ground-penetrating radar confirmed suspected damage to the "frost blanket" under the slab. But, the scans also showed "anomalies" that officials can't define. They're looking into it, but for now, officials say the dam is safe.

Holstein, Iowa faces crime spree

Holstein, Iowa has been hit with a crime spree. Over the last three weeks, thieves have targeted cars, garages and homes. 26 incidents in all. Officials say they're searching for one or more suspects. Eyewitnesses described a male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. They're offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
