The ballot is set for the Woodbury County Sheriff's election in November. Doug Boetger won the Democratic nomination, beating Marty Pottebaum by 55 votes in Tuesday's primary election. He will face Dave Drew who beat James Bauerly and Greg Logan for the Republican nomination. Both Drew and Boetger are currently Woodbury County Sheriff's Deputies.
In the primary races for Woodbury County Supervisors, Linda Holub beat former Sioux City Mayor Mike Hobart by a wide margin. She will face incumbent Democrat Jackie Smith in November. Also advancing to the supervisors' general election was Dick Salem, who beat Greg Trucke and Eldon Eliason for the Republican nomination in District 3. He will face Democratic incumbent Mark Monson in the November election. And Brian Ashley beat Judy Darwin for the GOP nomination in District 5. However, he dropped out of the race. That means the Republican party will have to chose a candidate to challenge long-time Democratic incumbent Larry Clausen in the general election. Judy Darwin does not automatically move forward.
