Girls get inspired with media careers

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

To inspire girls to pursue a career in the media, Girls Inc. invited KTIV into their classroom.

KTIV's Kristen Johnson spoke to the girls about cameras and photography, reporting and other careers in television.

The program is designed to teach girls how to distinguish between real images and fantasy images, such as Hollywood's idea of beauty.

Thursday, Kristen gave the girls an inside look at the media as a career path for them to consider.

"It could be interesting cause then I might go all around the world," Meridian Schmitz, Sioux City said.

"I think it's cool how they get to go to places that I never thought they would go before," said Kiara Tott, Sioux City.

The mission of Girls Inc. is to help Siouxland girls explore the many possibilities life has to offer.
