Spencer crash claims life of woman

SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) -

A two-vehicle accident on the north edge of Spencer, has claimed the life of a Sanborn, Iowa woman.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 63-year old Leola Vanravenswaay was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened shortly after five 'o clock Monday evening.

Authorities say Vanravenswaay was east-bound on U.S. Highway 18 when she entered the intersection with U.S. Highway 71.  Her vehicle was hit by a south-bound vehicle.   When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Vanravenswaay trapped in her vehicle and unresponsive.  She was extricated and later pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people in the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
