SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A Sioux City hospital branches out to bring many of its medical services to the Morningside neighborhood.
St. Luke's Regional Medical Center broke ground Tuesday on a new Sunnybrook Medical Plaza.
It'll offer outpatient services which includes urgent care and primary care clinics.
The new, modern medical facility will be located on Sunnybrook Drive near Target.
"We'll have a mix of physician services as well as some diagnostic services such as lab, pharmacy, imaging center, endoscopy infusion services, a pretty robust primary care office and then other specialists," said Chad Markham, Vice President for Clinics and Network Development.
Construction work is already underway on the two story, 86,000 square foot building.
It'll have 85 workers to start, with the potential for 115 employees.
St. Luke's CEO Peter Thoreen said it'll fill an important need in this part of town.
"This is the growing part of our community right now if you look at statistics and where roof tops are going up and where businesses and retail is moving so we think being a part of that will be good for us and it will be good for this area," said Thoreen.
The new St. Luke's campus should be open next summer.
