The Sioux Falls Pheasants roughed up Sioux City Explorers ace Nick Schumacher for six runs, handing the righty his first loss of the season as the Pheasants defeated the X's 6-4 Tuesday night.
Jared Bolden hit a two-run homer off of Schumacher in the first inning to give Sioux Falls a 2-0 lead.
Sioux Falls added a run in the second on Cory Morales' RBI single.
In the third, Schumacher found himself in more trouble. After giving up a single and a double to start off the inning, with two outs and the bases loaded Al Quintana drilled a double off the left field wall giving Sioux Falls a 6-0 advantage.
The X's finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning on Ray Serrano's sacrifice fly.
Sioux City would plate a run in the sixth and two in the eighth, highlighted by Michael Lang's two-run home run.
With the loss, the Explorers fall to 12-14 on the season. They hit the road and head up I-29 to visit the Pheasants Wednesday, before returning home Thursday for their series against Winnipeg.
