NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV) -
Norfolk, Neb., is the hometown of the late great comedian Johnny Carson.
Saturday showcased the talents of some of today's funniest people. The Great American Comedy Festival's gala took over the stage at the Johnny Carson theater tonight.
Headlining was funny-woman Paula Poundstone.
Some of the comedians that are newer to the scene, took the opportunity to show off their skills in a comic competition.
They say, their humor starts right at home.
"Just stories from my life," said Ben Bizuneh of Bloomington, Ind. "My parents are from Ethiopia. So, I talk about that a little bit. A lot of self-deprecating stuff. Making fun of myself."
You've still got a chance to see some comedians in person. A family show hosted by Dick Cavett, featuring magicians begins Sunday at 5 p.m.
