Body found along highway in Crawford County, IA

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A body has been found in Crawford County, Iowa and authorities are trying to determine who it is and how they died.

Union Pacific Railroad workers spotted the body along the railroad tracks near Highway 30 between Denison and Vail mid-afternoon Tuesday.

The Crawford County Sheriff's Department says due to the state of decomposition, positive identification and cause of death cannot be determined until final results of an autopsy are in.

The Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office is conducting the autopsy today.
