A federal jury in Sioux City convicted her in the 1993 drug-related slayings of five people in northern Iowa.
Now, prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty against Angela Johnson.
She was convicted in 2005 in the drug-related killings of three adults and two children near Mason City.
Their were found in 2000.
A federal judge threw out Johnson's death sentence in March, ruling her lawyers failed to present evidence about her mental state that could have convinced jurors to let her live.
Her re-sentencing is set for June of next year.
Johnson had been one of two women on federal death row.
