In South Dakota, ignition locking devices are being added to a statewide program aimed at keeping convicted drunk drivers off the road. The devices go on vehicles and prevent a person from driving. They were tested for six months in Lincoln County.
Attorney General Marty Jackley on Wednesday said the devices proved successful during the test that involved 10 offenders. The devices will now be added to South Dakota's 24/7 Sobriety Program by the fall, which enables alcohol offenders to stay out of jail as long as they remain sober.
