DENISON, Iowa (KTIV) -
A Dension, Iowa slaughterhouse re-opened Thursday afternoon, after an ammonia leak, Wednesday.
A spokesman for Tyson Fresh Meats says the Denison plant was shut down after the leak was discovered yesterday morning, before production began.
Workers were evacuated but no injuries were reported.
"The leak was confined to a small freezer area. However, to ensure worker safety, operations were suspended for the day. Operations resumed this morning," said Tyson Public Relations Manager Worth Sparkman.
In case you're wondering, the plant uses the ammonia as a refrigerant.
