SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
With summer just underway, the United Way is providing fun, safe activities for kids to hop into during the hot months.
Sack races, "Tug-of-War", and their version of "Dance-Dance Revolution" were all events at the first-ever "Kids Active Day."
More than 200 volunteers and 250 children packed Cook Park for the occasion.
It's part of the 125th anniversary of the United Way movement, promoting communities coming together and making a difference
"There are three pieces that we really try and focus on-income, health, and education are the three pieces, and this is a health day today. We're teaching these kids, you know it's great to be active and to enjoy activity your whole life and be physically fit," said Laurie Mills, co-chair United Way.
The volunteers preached how important it is to get out of the house and be active, something the kids agreed with.
