Sioux Gateway could benefit from SD airport closure

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KTIV) -

Passenger numbers could get a boost at Sioux Gateway Airport from a runway project this fall at the airport in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  The Sioux Falls airport will be closed two weekends in August and two weekends in September while crews replace concrete.

Officials there are considering shuttling travelers to the airports in Sioux City or Omaha for their flights.

They are especially concerned about disruptions during major events, including the Sioux Falls Marathon on September 9th.
